What is soy ink?
Petroleum is an important material for producing traditional inks. At the end of the 1970s, the shortage of petroleum led to a sharp increase in its price. The “Newspaper Association of America” realized that we needed more reliable printing raw materials. After testing more than 2,000 kinds of vegetable oils, it finally chose soybean oil, which has the most stable effect, to replace petroleum. Compared with petroleum inks, soybean oil inks can reduce the generation of volatile chemical substances and also solve the environmental health and safety problems in the printing industry. The American Association has also made specific regulations on the content of soybean oil in inks:
- Heat-set rotary printing inks must contain at least 10% soy oil.
- Sheet-fed offset inks must contain at least 20% soy oil.
- Foaming inks must contain at least 40% soy oil.
- Newsprint inks must contain a minimum of 55% soy oil.
What are the characteristics of soy ink?
| Bright and pure colors | Soy ink provides high saturation and bright colors, and also has excellent gloss and high concentration. |
| Superior printing performance | It has strong transferability, good water resistance, excellent wear resistance, and a stable printing process. |
| Safe and reliable: | The packaging is safe, non-flammable, non-explosive, non-corrosive, meets the usage standards, and ensures safer use. |
